Right, because the roads are packed with 20plus-year-old cars with fully functional power sunroofs that have never broken ...

Are these still being made by Webasto?
I've had more trouble with Japanese and American sunroofs, than Mercedes and VW/Audi sunroofs. In fact, the sunroof on my 30 year old 240D is the only one I've had problems with. If it makes you feel any better, my parents bought a Cadillac with a leaky sunroof from day one. Despite many trips to the dealer to fix it under warranty, GM had to replace their headliner 2 times, due to staining. The wind deflectors on 2 Lexus products in my family have broken off. They also sag over time, which results in a whistle or wind rustle. This is despite propper maintenance. My '92 ES300 takes 2 hands to close. One to push the switch, the other to bang on the headliner to keep it moving. Perhaps it's a faulty emergency stop sensor? Having to hit your roof when parking, doesn't impress girls at all! I hope this makes you feel better.

It is to my understanding the tilt sunroofs on the w126 are flawed from the beginning since the use of plastic at a high stress point is used other than a metal type of support. If I can find the time to take apart my sunroof(which I need real directions to) I will try and upgrade mine so it never breaks again.

I told you at the GTG you were a brave man using that tilt all the time; it was sometime in between my conversations with Ol' Turbo.

We Michigan people put less wear on our sunroofs and windows, as about 7 months of the year they are virtually never opened.

Luckily the E500 does not have a sunroof, though it does have about a million other things to go wrong.
OT's gets used once a month just for the exercise. If I want the wind whipping by I just get the convertible out.

This is what is good about W123 wagons, and selected 240's: manual sunroof.
The Squash has a manual sunroof too. Perfect.....

No sunroof on the E500 is like Kirk saying they opted for one less storage unit on the Enterprise.......its still way too complex!

E30 BMWs have the nicest manual sunroofs I've encountered; they even have tilt.
