190d and 240d injectors - the same?

are the 115 bar injectors from a 240d going to fit into a 190d 2.2? the only possible difference i can think of is the threading, or overall length.

no

what's the difference then? c'mon, tell us. don't keep secrets

I would imagine the tips are different as a minimum. They might actually screw in and work but probably carry different part numbers etc.

thanks, but i'm looking for a definitive answer if anyone knows/has tried it

you should try using the wrong parts and give us a full report. i would like to see diagrams and charts supporting your findings.

LOL, you mean they're no like wheels (just install whatever fits)? ;)

Searching the Buy Parts > Fastlane link at the top of this page gave me the same part numbers for a 1983 240D and a 1984 190D (for both the complete injector as well as just the injector nozzle).

So, the replacement parts appear to be compatible (for those specific model years), if that helps...

I've never tried this swap myself.

thanks, unlike the two useless posts before yours, this was actually useful to me.

will also look into the fastlane parts list above in the future

Owned.

And, unless you have access to freshly rebuilt or new 240D injectors, why would you bother?

i don't have access to 240d injectors--that's the problem (got it backwards in the original post). that's why i want to know if 190d injectors would fit.

thanks for the answers guys.

the useless posts weren't that bad, either. keep 'em coming

woah, woah, woah. buddy.

you just contradicted your own post :D

jt20 09-10-2009 07:54 PM

the 603 / 602 injectors thread into the prechamber, the 617 / 616 thread into the retaining collar.

much different thread pitches and depths.

On the other hand, if you wanted to thread the 602 injectors into the prechamber of a 616, I couldn't tell you if the the body is threaded to the same depth and it would work. However the threads on each prechamber are the same.

and as Mr. Walgamuth mentioned in his useless post.

The nozzles are different (265) and may cause a slight increase in fuel consumption as they are intended to flow more fuel. but it would be mostly negligible and you could put the nozzles from the 240d into them if desired.
