Looking for '81-84' 300D Engine in NYC Area

Thinking about swapping in a five-cylinder for my 1981 240D engine. Any engines in the NYC area for sale out there?
Also, recommendations for a good shop to do the job somewhere near Brooklyn most appreciated, as well as thoughts about the wisdom of making the swap. Thanks!!

It will drop right in, well, except for the exhaust being different and the drive shaft needing to be swapped around and then there will be a little question regarding vacuum line routing and perhaps glow plug wiring (or may not on that last point).

You want to keep it a 4-speed I presume? There are a couple of threads here about an automatic to standard swap, since most every 5-cylinder motor you'll find will be an automatic. Then there is the question of just how long those shift rods should be.

I have a pair of 5-cylinder turbo motors setup for automatics sitting right here if you want one (though I did promise one to somebody), drop me an email. Given that I have a suburban, I can deliver it too.

Hey, I just answered your other post. The fella that bought my transmission and other parts to do a manual conversion is a shop in Stratford CT. He drove my 240D to his shop, pulled all the parts in under 2 hours and towed it back to me.

They can put the engine in for you if you drive your 240D up here. You should come up and check out my engine and I'll hook you up so you can discuss price..
