Ovp relay question

My friend has 2-3 ovp relays from various gasser w124 cars, they seem larger than on the 124 diesels (1987 at least) one of them even has 2 fuses instead of one.
question is are these the same?
can we use these on the 87 diesels? trouble???
Have a good day
Ep

AFAIK, they are different and not interchangeable unless the part numbers match, possibly with the exception of the third set of numbers (the revision number). My '87 uses a 201 540 08 45, the "08" is the version number. OVP relays with different version numbers might be interchangeable but I would want to take them apart to confirm pin-for-pin manufacturing before I took any chances with my car. YMMV.

I agree strongly with Jeremy, you don't want to mess up the car by swapping.

As far as I know, the gasser ones have another set of contacts and extra fuse that the diesel doesn't need, but check to be sure that this is the only difference.

As a final comment, it's likely that many "similar" Mercedes modules could be swapped after a little (or a lot of) modification if one knew what wire to cut, etc. Unfortunately, I've never seen schematics for the insides of these things and it isn't worth the time to try and reverse-engineer the device.
