No. I'd rather have an akward color combo than a chameleon situation.

The SLS system seems to function properly ,front end needs 3 ties rod ends, and one broken shock replacment .Driving home was a bit like directing a dog sled team, safe at 55 but not at 65 . A Valve adjustment then a purge soon after is in order . All fluids changed will follow.Check brakes .After these items its on to the paint job ,original color most likely,in 4 weeks it will be a completely different car.Wish I had pics of it in the barn ,that would of been a nice ending to drive it back to its resting spot for a finished shot.I do have one were the barn is in the background .

Repaints should always been done in the same color. THAT is my story and I'm sticking with it.

A damn nice find! Looks to be it pretty good shape, too. Glad you posted some pics. Don't feel bad, my before and after are virtually unchanged except slightly less patina and a self-inflicted wall wound on my rear quarter.

It's good to hear that there are still barn finds to be found. Even if I never seem to find them.

Wow...for $450, including cross bars? Just last week I saw two sets of cross bars on ebay, and the sellers posted "buy-it-now" prices of over $400 for each pair! (Needless to say, I don't think there was anyone foolish enough to buy!). Nice find.

Passenger fender was toast, have it pulled for replacement .Im in need of a new tail lens and front lens buckets to complete exterior after that task ,then its on to the repaint. Will post pics when its done.Even with A/C work complete I should still come in under $1000.Im very cheap.Vanity might read "barn it" .Completion is sometime end of the month.

Cross bars

I'm interested in what you find while driving around 65 mph with the cross bars installed. Mine make a horrible wind noise that sound like a worn out differential. Scared the heck out of me, I was thinking center support bearing failure, diff or wheel bearing about to fail. One day I moved the front bar to just above the sunroof. It was so obvious I called JimmyL to share the news. BTW, he's the one scaring me about the diff.

I agree, Dan. The PO dropped them off to me a few months ago when he found them while cleaning out his garage (he was going to chuck them in the garbage but figured he'd see if I wanted them first! ) They do make a good amount of noise.

What was amazing was that not only did they make the EXACT noise you would expect a rear end to make when going out, but did it at an exact mph, like 62mph or something like that. It sounded just like something in the drive train hand-grenading......
What a nice cheap wagon that is!

I hate to use a term that shows my age, but DUH! I believe this car originally had a palomino interior because of the upper trim on the doors.
