When I was growing up in Europe we did not have a cup holders or a make up bins inside cars because almost all of the cars were stick shift and we are not getting fat thru drive thrus with cokes and big macs. We installed a outside opening so you have to get out and open trunk and maybe burn few calories it all come to people in europe not being lazy.

The ones I've seen are the folding type and covered in a matching interior material.. I have an aftermarket version for a boat, designed to mount on a level surface, and had a similar pair, covered in matching tan 'Tex', fastened to the doors on a previous 240D. Problem is those require FOUR screws to attach! And the plastic parts crack or warp, so on the door-mount types, they won't stay closed. Quite irritating if the car has manual windows like my previous 240D. Before I sold it, I removed them, replaced the front-door panels, and installed one of my 'customized' WalMart center-mount cupholders.

I'm now thinking about a remote trunk release, or at least maybe a helper-spring, so I dont need three hands to get in my trunk.

Happy Motoring, Mark
