worn ball joint or...problem bearing?
I am not too happy with the front suspension and plan on doing some work there. First thing I did was to test the front wheel using the "10 and 2" wheel grip followed by the "12 and 6" : little bit of movement detected in both approaches. Sinced the rubber boot on the ball joint looks OK and I do not see anything leaking grease should I be checking the torque on the bearing in the hub? Any other ideas? I would not want to do more work than it is truly needed.Any help appreciated.

The bearings do often work loose in 75K or so. You cannot really use a torque wrench to check them. I just tighten them right down until the wheel starts to feel resistance from the bearing and back them off til it frees up then check to see if there is any play. I would pack them while i had them out too.
