Swap possible.
Can I swap the engine and trans from an 82 300SD to a 77 300D? The throttle linkage seems different, and the rod vs. bowden cable, manual kick down vs, vacuum.
Is it worth the work? I think I am starting to wonder why I bought this car.... Thanks

the 82 300sd is a turbo, the 77 300d is a non-turbo. you can swap the engine into the car, but you will have to also change at least the drive shaft, the radiator and oil cooler, and the wiring harness is going to be the hardest part of the swap.

If you're swapping both engine and trans, then the rod shouldn't matter as much, right? It's used for the older trans. I'd be thinking about how to hook up the electric things on the SD trans (NSS, speedo pickup, kickdown). The driveshaft shouldn't be an issue, radiator and oil cooler can be grabbed from the SD, etc.

Isn't the sd transmission tail shaft longer?
