My fan clutch finally went out...
...and took my radiator and the fan with it.
All the screeching and out of balance wiggle I noticed in the fan finally came to their natural end. The fan and clutch separated from the water pump knocking a chunk out of one of the aluminum fan blades and puncturing my radiator about two inches from the bottom. I actually have the clutch on order and could be here any day but I am pretty sure it doesn't come with the bolt I need to connect it to the water pump. Does anybody know where I could find that bolt? |
you can prolly pick it up from the dealer or from the buy parts link on the top of this page. suxors on the rad

Junkyard! Get the hardware you need, as well as the replacement fan. All for next to nothing, too! I <3 junkyards.

Bummer. Sorry to read. Had something similar happen with my MGB I had in Hawaii.

Well, in hindsight it was probably my fault.
While the clutch was going bad I turned it backwards to check on it. Since the bearings had seized up and the bolt that holds it all onto the water pump is attached with so little torque, I am pretty sure I loosened the bolt that led to it coming off. |
Same thing happened to me a while ago. I got the bolt from a dealer after finding out the part number from detali.ru

MB charged me something like $4.95 plus shipping it came to $10 or $11. Impex wanted $20 for it. They also want $3450 for a differential for the same car..... |
