Injector Rebuilder in the DC Area?

Are there any shops in the metro Washington DC area that rebuild Diesel injectors? I want to have the ones in my 1983 300D rebuilt. My car has 305K miles on it and I don't have a record of the injectors being rebuilt or the nozzles being changed.

I was quoted $70 each by a shop for replacement ones.

Is this a terribly hard job to do DIY? I saw that ************** offers (for $300) a kit that has new nozzles, shims, etc, and a pump for pop testing.

United Diesel in Alexandria, VA

Maybe United could install new nozzles on your old injectors.

Injector Repair

If you go through the Bosch website, they have a recommendation in Alexandria, also, if you do purchase the new injector nozzles, doing a pop test is encouraged, because it will screw with timming if not done properly.

x2 on United Diesel in Alexandria. They rebuilt my '97 E300 injectors last year. Very knowledgeable and friendly folks there that really know their stuff! They were eager to chat about how cool the new BMW 335d is with its two-stage turbos, new CDI's etc, so they know the euro-diesels.

They will disassemble the injector bodies, ultrasonic clean all the parts, install the new nozzles, and shim them / pop-test them to the correct opening pressures.

You don't want to DIY this.

I agree, Brownrice...I didn't know anyone in the DC Area did this. Iraj down at Luxus in Manassas told me that he outsources the job.

I will be visiting United Diesel tomorrow or maybe this afternoon to talk about them.

I just spoke to the guys at United Diesel, and they were really helpful.

He said they like to just buy remanufactured injectors many times and quoted me the $70 price. He said that if I were to supply Nozzles, they could redo the injectors for $24 a piece, but warned me that with 300K miles on them they may likely be shot.

I don't remember exactly, but it was a fair price for sure. I brought them my injectors (in six zip-lock bags) along with the package of new Fratelli Bosio injector nozzles. Picked them up a few days later and put them back into the car. Easy peasy.
