Idle cleared up today....Uh?

Let me just preface this by saying that in the 8 years of owning this car as a daily driver, it has ALWAYS shook at idle. Not a real problem just sometimes annoying.

Today while running some errands with the wife I had to floor it to get out of the way of someone on their cell phone. Even though I still don't have the kickdown working, it worked and I avoided collision.

Shortly after that while idling at a stoplight we both noticed that the car was as smooth as glass. It felt like her car....no shaking, no rocking, no nothing.

I did notice that the oil pressure gauge was bouncing around a bit but keeping 2 bars. I did a quick check of oil level and all was good.

Any reason ya'll can think of that would cause this, not that i'm complaining much. I did also drive it the 40 miles home and ran great as always.

I've always heard that engines run great just before the end of it's life and this got me a little worried.

Thoughts??

That's what i thought, but since i don't have the kickdown to 1st when i floored it I never saw over 2500 RPMs.

One other thing to note is that while this car didn't get driven much this year, over the last month it has seen over 100 miles/day commuting at around 75 mph.

Maybe something clogging an injector just came unstuck? Funny thing is, I am pulling my injectors this week to have them tested..maybe i'll hold off on this and see what happens.

If it is running good, and getting good mpg, I'd leave it alone, unless you just like taking things apart to see the inside . . .
