Cool Will a 380SE diff fit in a 220D?

Just wondering if a 1986 380SE diff will bolt into a 1972 220D?

Thanks for the help!

First off, there is no such thing as a "1986" 380SE. They were built in '84 & '85. If your talking about that vehicle in those years, then yes, it will fit with maybe an input flange change.

Yeah, better stick with the stock gearing with the meager hp you have in a 220. They will barely get up to speed with the stock gearing. With a 247 it will take forever to take off and you will probably not be able to use fourth unless going down hill.

Now if you are swapping in a more powerful motor that is another matter!

a 617 turbo and a 247 would work well.
