124 door panel removal..., what is the secret

I need to get the inside door panel off of the right rear door. There are no screws or latches anywhere I can see. Anyone have some insight on how to get this off?

Remove the two small screws at the back of the door and remove the plastic c shaped piece, then remove black plastic piece at top of handle, there you will see a 10mm nut that you can remove, next you will very carefully remove the panel by pulling it up, be super careful not to break tabs around the center and bad of the panel, they are like little latches and the upward movement pulls them out, do not pull panel straight at you.
Sometimes if this i've described sem impossible check at bottom of panel that there hasnt been glued, if it has you will have to pry gently before oulling it upwards.
Hope this helps

after you remove the plastic panel that holds the rear window switch, you need to remove the door handle, and you do that by grabbing the entire handle frame, and pushing it forward (towards the front of the car), then out, and disconnecting it from the metal rod that attaches to the door lock mechanism

STOP!

The ashtray must be removed, then the ashtray holder, there is a clip in the bottom of the holder which you pry upward - pull the bottom of the holder toward you and out.

Then, with the aforementioned trim around the latch, latch rod, lock button, and the bolt in the top of the handle removed, you can slide the panel upward to disengage the hooks. The window wiper-strip will sometimes be stubborn and need localized upward pressure to prevent sudden release from shearing the clips on the back of the panel.

that is, assuming his 124 had an ashtray on the rear door. i don't believe the 230e had them, for example ;)

Since his only 124 is a '92 300D, he has ashtrays.

Yeah, aint happening. Assuming you guys are talking about the 2 screws near the door latch, those are not coming out. My screwdriver was bending trying to get these out. So not cool!

Wrong screws. They mean (in the 124) one screw in the black plastic trim around the door latch.

Hmmm, ok, got that one. I will keep toying around with it. Thanks Jeremy.

ok I got that screw out, and the plastic c shaped thing, and the ashtray, but the panel is NOT coming off. Anyone have any pics of this or of the 10mm hex that was mentioned? I am about ready to just torch it.
