Dieseling my way to Columbus, Ohio and then some
Moderators please excuse the slightly off topic of this thread, but obviously some folks in need of good quality w123 body parts do not know that I'm driving my diesel truck to Columbus, Ohio, and delivering a certain 300SDL to its new owner.
While on this journey which is very Mercedes related (see my FS and delivery thread over here: FS & Delivery on the way to Columbus, OH ), I plan on taking the "Silver Star" along and maybe, just maybe, passing it along to a fellow MB enthusiast. For those of you who don't know the story of the "Silver Star", see this thread: Silver Star Across America

Matt --- Actually, I think you are referring to this post:
Thats it! So, let's try not to cross link these threads too many times. I've read some old threads that had me going in circles. This thread is an attempt to let all the dieselheads to be on the outlook for a diesel truck full of Mercedes parts......and for everyone in Ohio and Michigan and Indiana who wants rust freeish parts to let me know.....Naturally, I have to drive thru Kentucky and some of Tennessee to get there. The Silver Star will ride in style.

Yeah, that's may of saying that there is probably some rust around the drain holes in the doors.....but they are NOT rusted all the way thru.

Driving to Columbus on September 24th --- if you see me; honk, wave, give me a "thumbs up".
Sightings will also be possible in the Columbus & Dayton area on the morning of Friday, September 25th --- look for the w123 doors standing up in the rear of my truck.

I wish I could have seen the looks when I was huffing mine around... it was dark out and I couldn't see into the other cars. One of many fuel stops:
PS: The V126 barley fits on a uhaul trailer. The trailer + the car is at the towing capacity for a 5.9l gas Dodge 250 -J

Here's an 300SDL I just bought in Jacksonville trailering it back to SC. It did barely fit on the trailer. And boy did it sway alot.

Did yours have the engine in it? The front looks rather high! There were a lot of cross winds when we were towing mine... that coupled with the fairly short trailer meant we couldn't go much over 53, which meant we couldn't use overdrive
