Amber Fog lights. One is brighter!

Why is one brighter than the other? is this standard? if not what can be done?

Unless the problem is with the lenses or reflectors, installing two new H3 bulbs of the same type should solve the problem.

Another simple check. Swap the light bulbs first and see whether the brightness goes with the bulb. If they do then do what Tangofox said. If not then you have other issues, like reflector, headlight door opaqueness or bad contacts.

alternatively the fog bulb 'domes', which are amber and have chrome plating on them, often get dirty from the inside, due to a leak in the headlight somewhere, causing dust to get in. remove the headlight door, grab the dome and remove it, and clean the domes first

Removing the headlight door should not reveal anything that is removable by "grabbing."

Yeah, grab is not the term I would use, once the door is removed you'll see a couple (three?) of screws that hold a bezel that secures the headlight.

incorrect. the fog light bulb 'dome' is removable by simply grabbing it and yanking it off. it's held on by a metal bracket that uses pressure on the flange of the dome to keep it in place.

grab that, tf007

Fog Lights

Ok here is a dumb question...how do you turn the fog light on??? Mine must both be burned out, because I have never seen them on yet.

Maybe you could post a picture of this "dome." I have no idea what you are talking about.

With the headlights "on" and low beam selected, pull the rotary light switch "out."

I suspect Sev is referring to the later style lights (W124 fer instance), not the USA W123 version (I assume) being discussed. Those light have a reflector that is forward of the tip of the bulb, that acts as to reflect light back into the primary reflector.

yes jim, that's right. only now did i see the op's signature, in which he lists his w123--obviously not applicable to that chassis

Okay well the lamp blew out. LOL, timing is impeccable. I should replace both because I have been driving with them on all the time. Its looks badass, but i guess the lamps have barely been used and are pretty old. Can someone give me some easy directions? and good replacement parts? :)thanks.
