My older kids and I comute in the MB's. But the family, or with the wife it is the expy. Vaction in the CC and TT. Also in 04 ford lowered the rear seat floor to match the middle, so even my 17 yr. old is comfortable in the back.

Mercedes Sprinters offer many options. Why stop at 3?

Oh man, please don't go from a veggie oil burner to a gasser suv. I will never own one. I've driven an Escalde on a number of occasions and hated it.
There are better choices out there. Wagons or even a minivan is better than an suv. My sister-in-law just got a Mazda 5, seems to work well. My $.02

I have fond memories of being the 3rd kid in the back of my dad's early 60s volvo. With my sister 10 years older than me, it was a tight fit until I hit age 4.
Go for the benz wagon. Did anybody see the "top 10" list of great cars for college bound kids? On the list is the W123 wagon. -CTH |

Times have changed and there were no SUV's and Mini Vans when our kids were young.
Bought an old "Olds" Wagon with wood on the side! and a third seat! Remember those? Worked fine lasted long time. If you have kids buy something that takes a beating and keeps on ticking with enough room but not pricey but safe.

Since you talk about solid engineering, the G Wagen is still the prime example of what and how solid engineering should be defined. Check out Craig list for a used diesel G.

Or, if you'd really like to hang on to what you've got, you could acquire three child seats that fit in the back seat. This guy did it with a Prius.
