They broke into my TD

Damn, here I am turning over a new leaf exercising by hiking, and someone broke into my car at the state park for a 100.00 stereo, my radar detector and a cheap camera (7 bucks at a garage sale).
I know ***** happens, but at least they could have cut the wires instead
of ripping them all out. I rewired everything this afternoon, but cannot find
the power antenna wire. It's an 85 TD and I think it's supposed to be blue,
but I installed the thing last year or so and cannot recall, anyone have a guess? All the schematics I found were not specific to my car. They also took the wood around the climate controls, would any kind soul have a real good one they'd like to sell? They missed 4 bucks in quarters, hehe. What the heck would they want my wood surround for? It looked nice but the pegs were broken off, I just had it velcro-ed on. Dumb ****s didn't get my crossbars though, could have got more on ebay for them. Damn, I'm going back to the couch,
heck with this hiking crap.

That sucks. Try your best to forget about it and move on. I'm pretty certain the power antenna wire is blue.

Go back to the scene of the crime and look around in the bushes. I'll bet you a dime the scum wads tossed it in the vegetation. Sorry to hear about your troubles. There are those types everywhere.

Sounds like a plan. My wife suggested this on the way home from the park, but being the practical guy I am I said, "if I ripped off something,
I sure wouldn't toss it out, they must HAVE a w123". She said "yeah sure,
one with a missing climate surround". So based on your suggestion, I pulled me head out of my *** and asked my wife to go down there in the morning and poke around with her hiking stick, in the parking area. Perhaps she'll find it. She wanted to dis-infect the whole inside of the car.
"We gotta take the sheep skins out and wash them". Uh, you wanna do it?, she wanted to, but not nesessary for me. I'm more upset over not finding the friggin' power antena wire yet. The right speaker wires ripped
out, right up to the speaker plug. Hard telling where the power antenna
wire is. I have a toner at work. I'll bring it home and trace it after work. Hopefully I can find where it ripped out and just splice. Funny thing is, I can find no trace of it. The antenna coax was ripped out as well but I found and spliced that already. Hehe I KNOW it's there somewhere.

Sorry to hear that happened.

That must have been one strong person to rip out the wires like that, especially the coax....that is some tough wire! Are you sure it wasn't a gorilla?

I had the same problem when my radio was stolen. The coax cable is gray. I bought a new one from the dealer and installed it myself. Bad decision as I ended up somehow screwing up some wires and causing lights to come on when they shouldn't. The indy fixed the lights from coming on, but it's still not completely fixed.

Dang - sorry to hear that - trailhead parking lots are notoriously under-patrolled - The blue wire is the auto antenna relay.

That sucks. There's a special place in Hell for those who mess with 123's.

It sucks. You have something nice and some idiot has to destroy it.

Just curious, how did they get in?

It might be blue or blue+red. You may be able to check by looking at your antenna switch - or that may be where it got ripped out from.

Keeps blowing fuse. A little help?

Yak thanks for the tip

Yep sure enough the wire was ripped off up to the switch. Big duh for me
not to think of that antenna switch. Soldered on another wire A-OK now.

To answer another question, I don't know if I left it unlocked or if they
slim jimmed it. I always lock, however my wife couldn't remember either
if she saw the button go down. No matter now I guess.

kinda difficult to slimjim an MB... ya probably left it unlocked, which is a good thing, because if you hadn't they'd have smashed your window.
