A bad day for the SD

Not a good day for the SD. Got home from work and noticed the smell of raw fuel so I popped the hood and found the return lines from the #1 and #5 injectors leaking. Also have an odd noise in the front and another one in the rear to search out as well as the brakes squeeling even though the pads are all good. Decided I will have a few projects this weekend. Then on the way to work this morning noticed that my hood ornament is missing. I know it was there last night as I was under the hood. Someone has been kind enough to snap it off. What a world. Oh well......

The return lines are a routine replacement every few years item.

I keep a couple of new hood ornaments in the shop as talismans. Whenever you have the replacement part handy, the original part never goes missing (or fails).

Its the battle...keep your head up. It happens to everyone.

The good news is all of those fixes are fairly cheap and easy to fix.

I will never give up. Just a bit disheartening when people cannot leave people's things alone especially a nice antique.

I had my hood ornament stolen too. Luckily their inexpensive and easy to replace.

Looks like you have some easy maintenance to do.

My bad day for my SD this year was when the trans decided to retire. I'd have taken all of my fuel lines leaking instead! Gladly!

I had my hood ornament broken off before I was to hear over to Chad's get together.

Didn't matter though, super glue did wonders for me in the end

Now I have a spare hanging up on my wall and no one has done any hood vandalism. If someone does rip it off again I will buy a removable star and hang it from my rear view mirror when i'm not driving.

DON'T DO IT!!!! They'll just break in to get it.

Get a big silver chain and wear it when you're not driving.

Thank your lucky stars that those are all pretty easy fixes. The return lines are meant to be replaced fairly frequently over the life of the car. For the noises, check your swaybar bushings, those are usually the first to go.

Fixed the return lines and changed the oil this weekend. Still have not isolated the front or rear noises. Made a report with the locals (small town) as there has been quite a few issues with a few of the minors in the area. Will have to see about replacing the star. Do they actually make a removable one? Find it very distracting to drive without it. Just a little metal nub sticking up. Makes the hood seem to have more of a curve to it now. Did not notice it before. I am used to the old car thing as maintenance is a constant between it and my truck. Sure beats car payments.
