Milan Brown Metallic
I had a 1977 280E in Milan Brown Metallic with a brown ("Tobacco"?) interior back in the day. It was a stunning good looking car. The dark brown of the seats and carpets contrasted beautifully with the parchment of the headliner. The zebra wood on the black dash tied it all together. The paint looked so good polished as I kept it. Looked like you could stick your hand in it like water. That and the chrome and the body-colored hubcaps. Just a beauty.

My mother had two of those Ivory wagons. An '80 with the burnt orange interior and an '83 with Palomino. Did not care for the color on the sedans, especially on the later 201s, but it was a great color for the 123 wagons. I remember driving the '83 in Michigan winters so cold the diesel would get thick and the car would stall. Great cars! All of those and my parents are long gone now. Funny (and cool) how the cars bring back the memories.

One thing about white, is that it last and lasts. Most of those other colors look great when new, but not as they age.

Main problem I had with white paint is rust's affinity for showing through it. Brown vehicles are better at hiding rust spots/stains.

Russet Brown has less drag. And it looks the best.

Paint Color Thread
Nice to see this hasn't faded away yet .
My first Diesel Coupe was oriental Red : Both of my first Coupes were this color with Tobacco Brown interiors , a color I don't much like , they were both NA with the EVIL KLIMA I SERVO too . Our '81 240D still sports mostly original paint , the chips are getting pretty bad , I began polishing & waxing it recently , looks terrific from 20' , I don't seem to have a photo of it . My '84 Coupe is that lovely Ivory (not the correct code name) , the original paint is getting pretty bad , maybe I'll figure out how to afford a repaint in a few years : My 84/85 European TD is beige , I don't like beige but SWMBO LOVES the car and it runs like new so that's that .

I love both the yellows! Fantastic! I wish there was a color link for the 1970 model. I'm not going to repaint my car Beige. While it is a nice color, it's just not for me. I've been pretty torn up about since there aren't many of my cars with the options (so I've been told) on what to do with her. But I'm not planning on reselling her so I'll paint her what color I want. Trying to keep here in the same yr though!
Very nice all of the posts!! |
