My personal favorite would be white on black.

as much as i love arctic white and astralsilber, i love those colours more on a w201. but i gotta admit that white on black is super nice. i would prefer a different spoiler than the one on it--maybe ducktail amg style, but otherwise a nicely done auto. maybe a deeper tint and black painted pentas with or without chrome lips. yeah, i would love to one day buy a 280ce on white, and black out all the chrome and do something just like that.

I actually think your beige is one of the best colors for a 123 sedan. You're going for a stock+ look, so it works great.

I don't care for the Red with Black Coupe. Too 1960s American looking. One of my neighbors had the same combination on a 1967 ElCamino SS. It was a really neat car, and totally gorgeous in every way, it's just that that color combo will always remind me of it. Of course, that car is probably worth $100k today. I like red with black wagons though...reminds me of my old Radio Flyer.

My car has the most boringest color. Pastel gray on Black. If I ever paint it, I think I'll change it. I like the way smoke silver looks with black. My tastes would be different if I was going for a sporty look. Dark blues do look good with sportier wheels and lowered suspensions.

There's a neat one on Ebay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150378920266&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#v4-37 Main difference is the wheels, but they look great on that car.

um, yeah. the 190e 2.3-16 that was imported to the usa only came in pearl black on black and 702 on black, so i guess mb thinks that if you're going for the sporty look, you'd like that color combo.

ok, maybe signalrot is too sporty a color for the w123, but it sure looks sweet on an SLC or older two door benzes. assuming that prior to the r107 chassis, that color was still called signal red. i know astral silver has been used by mb since the gullwing era, and only recently retired (in favor of brilliant silver??)

Signalrot. I have a coupe in that same color combination. Unfortunately the car looks like it was parked half in the sun, since one side has some serious fading/chipping. Which is a total shame.

I'm slightly partial to orient red (not that I would mind any of the colors above)

Thanks, I think Manila Beige (hence my "MBeige" username), option code 681 is very 80's.

The color came out in 79 to 85, and crossed over to some W201s and W124s. You'll know they're 84/85 if they have that color.

There are VERY nice colors in the W123 range, I love the petrol green (teal) color too. Orient red is a VERY nice deep red example also.

In the main W123 colors, I would choose this Orient Red, my Manila Beige, Surf Blue and Petrol Green as the "primaries" alongside classic white, astral silver and black, of course.

mbeige, you sure that's orient red and not almadine? maybe almadin'e a bit lighter in color. that surf blue wagon is amazing on that drivable grass from the top view.
