If it weren't so far away from me I'd buy it right out from under you.

Also check under those sheepskins an see if the MB Tex is in good shape or not.

I would hop on that car immediately.

like so, i'm sure there's a thread or two about how to do it so i don't fill this with what could be useless info for you

but short story even shorter, people cut them up (in halves as i recall) and stuff them in the seat to bring back the squishy feel vs. seat springs in the ass (and the potential to rip the interior (like mine )

I considered looking at that car myself.

Assuming it all checks out I think it could be a good deal. My 240D had over 300K miles when I bought it and nearly 400 when I had to junk it. You should be able to get at least another 100K out of this one.

I don't know what he's talking about with respect to the injection pump though. I was not aware of any differences in injection pumps between the US market and the rest of the world and I doubt you'll find much in the way of "extra" hp. Definately take it for a freeway run and see what happens to the temperature gauge. In that location you are right next to the 51 freeway so be sure to use that to your advantage.

Be sure about the oil pressure as well. Other than that the only thing that would concern me would be the gears. Assuming the clutch is strong and there are no problems shifting you should be good. Pull the drivers floor mats and look up against the fire wall. One of the clutch cylinders (master cylinder I think?) is up behind that carpet on the firewall. Make sure it has no leaks. This is a hydraulic clutch and if you have to work on it you'll have to bleed the break system as well as they both work of the same resevoir.

The lights are euro, though they are not the "standard" euro lights for a 240D. Personally I prefer the look of the US lights but that's juts me.

The seats are not an issue. They can be refurbed with pool noodles as others have suggested. Or replaced with good examples from a junkyard. I did that with mine for the drivers seat which was shot. Or completely rebuilt if you really want to go that route.

Once again. If the car checks out I'd definitely go for it. A good 240D is one of the best vehicular experiences imaginable. I'm still bummed that I got rid of mine

- Peter.

That pool noodle seat tutorial looks pretty straightforward. By the way, I'm wondering if since this car has manual windows, is there a possibility it has manual locks, or is that just asking way too much? I forgot to ask seller.

If it really is a Euro import no way to tell for sure till you see it. The locks are not a problem though unless you have vacume leaks.
