After staring at it for about 3 hours, I couldn't resist breaking out a camera when I stopped.

For any given large, complex, hard-to-understand, expensive problem, there exists at least one short, simple, easy, cheap wrong answer.

Pull over and hole up. Skating your way across I-70 isn't worth it.

Yup, I stopped in Colby for the night. I'm only 3 hours from home but I know how I-70 can get with some wind and ice at night. It's not worth it, I'll drive home in the morning.

Smart move. It did not get as warm here today as promised. Still ice and snow around.

Yup, it looks like my sprinkler valve froze today. My wife found it leaking in the yard. I didn't think it needed to be drained yet, it was still warm when I left two weeks ago.

Wasn't it a nice little surprise? I've made the mistake of driving through when I70 was like that once. Never again! I didn't wreck, but by the time I made it through the stress and exhaustion from 8 hours of white knuckle driving wasn't worth it.

Thankfully it didn't make it far enough South to give a good freeze to Wichita. Thanks for reminding me to winterize my irrigation system.

Sorry to hear that. I was just thinking this afternoon that I was lucky to have blown out my systems two weeks ago. At the time I thought it was premature.
