Testing aux fan circuitry
I am wondering if anyone knows how I could check the circuitry of my auxillary fan. I've seen a thread before but could not find it by searching. I've noticed as well that there is a switch on my thermostat housing with one lead that looks like it is for the aux fan but have NO idea how it works or how to test it.
Thanks! |

I'm not too sure about the 78 but on my 85 there is a pressure switch and a temp. switch on the drier.
Crossing the leads on the temp. switch should cause the aux. fan to run with the key on. But, like I said. That is on the 85. I'm sure someone on here has a wiring diagram for your car. That system is pretty easy to troubleshoot.

Well there are two switches on my receiver/dryer. One at the top which is showing continuity and one on the side that is electrically open. I jumped those two wires, turned the key and nothing!

There should be a plug over by the fan where the fan wiring goes through the rad. core support.
Pull the plug and check for voltage there and see what you got. Try it with the temp. switch leads crossed again too. Could be a bad fan. The fan is repairable. But, there are some other things to check too. I forget what they are. I did all of this months ago. There is a good wiring diagram on here somewhere. Hopefully someone will know where it is. I don't feel like searching right now.
