300sdl fuel tank
I have a 1987 300sdl.
Does anyone know if there's a bigger fuel tank for this model? Any options? |
Ahh........the vehicle already goes 600 miles on a tank. How much further do you need?
|
I'm getting around 450 on a tank. I would be very happy with 600.
Any suggestions as to what to check regarding my low number. I'm new to the diesel world. new as in two weeks. |

Keeping the speed to 68 mph helps. Keeping the tires at 35 psi helps. Avoiding the brakes really helps (plan ahead and coast). I believe PowerService helps but can't prove it. Ignoring the fuel gauge when it first touches the "E" line also helps............there's another three gallons in there. |

"hitting the highway next weekend.
Washington DC to Charleston SC (525 miles). I'll check it out then." Ditto on the 68. I have a problem keeping it under 75. I useit as a daily driver (64 miles) back and forth straight highway 530 in the morning no traffic............ Seriously though before my cruise quit i did a week at 65 both ways and got 29.5 mpg on that tank:D |

87 300SDL
70 - 75 mph, an easy 600 miles per tank. At 80 - 85 for 35% of the time and 70 - 80 for 65% of the time, the mileage drops to about 500 per tank. Tires at 33-34 psi.

I really, really want an SDL. As much or more than I want a 190D. The significant other says I need to get rid of at least one of the current crop before I can get another vehicle. In my defense, one of the non-runners planted in the yard isn't mine, I'm just holding on to it for a buddy....
