Im seeing dead Mercedes

CFC written on the windshield ,some 126 bodies with the gasser toasted under the hood.Thanks to the cash for clunkers program its a wealth of interiors and other body parts for those SDs out their ,gettem while their hot .Interiors on some are not to bad.

Lots of Es, TEs, SELs. Nothing with a "D" that I can see.

Of this I am well aware, and I plan to raid the local junkyard this week. That was more of a comment on the longevity of our diesels.

More a comment on the diesels not being eligible due to high mpg ratings.

The good thing was that none of the diesels within the CARS time period had bad enough fuel economy to be eligible. So by the rules, not a single MB diesel was killed by the program.

Exactly, the diesels didn't qualify for the CFC program. I just pulled the entire interior (literally, the entire interior) out of an 89 300SE that suprisingly read 240k on the odometer. The dash had no cracks and the seats were in great shape. Paid about $200 for everything at the pick n pull.

Next step...put it all in the SD (rear seats are already in).
