Diesel Purge on Newer E320?

I have a 06 Jetta TDI that I do regular Diesel Purge treatments on and my father has a 04-05 E320 that he wants me to run the diesel purge through. Question is: has anyone done a purge on a newer E320? I see two lines into the fuel filter, which is to the engine and which is to the pump? Also, where is the return line? Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't have an answer for your questiuon, but consider cleaning out the intake manifold. I have read TDI's get very gunked up with carbon deposits.

What evidence does your father have that the car needs a diesel purge in the first place?

I'm not sure that it necessarily does need it, but the vehicle has been smoking, using more fuel, not as much power than it did when new. Anyways, I've always considered diesel purge to be sort of a preventative measure. Will it hurt these engines? That's one of my questions.

Diesel purge's main claim is that it will clean dirty injectors. No additive can fully clean injectors. If the car is using more fuel and doesn't have as much power as before, your dad may need to look into having the injectors removed and cleaned. Being that it's a newer car, it may be throwing a code if that's the case. Do you know if any codes are being thrown?
