Still won't start! 1985 300D
Hi Guys--I replaced my glowplugs--only one was working out of five--on my '85 300D turbo. I removed the injector lines; there was no way I could get my big ol' hands down there without taking them off. Cranked and cranked to bleed the lines but all I get out of them is a drip. Shouldn't they SQUIRT like the ones on my Dodge Cummings do? I know the IP works because I drove the car about a month ago. How do I purge the whole system of air? Any ideas? Thanks..........Dave

Use the primer pump. It is located at the bottom of the IP, cylindrical shape and the top is about the size of a silver dollar. If it is the orignal it should be white and you have to unscrew it and then pump it in and out. If it is the newer version it is black and you just push it.
Pump it until you get fuel flowing through it and then pump it about 20 more times. FYI- You may need to pump it 100 times or so to prime it.

Do not be tempted to etherize (rhymes with "euthanize") it.

By the way, if your primer pump is leaking, you willbe creating new cuss words... And if you do feel the need to give it ether, use WD-40 instead.

Yeah, you're going to have to crank it a while. The primer will get fuel to the IP, but not through. And no, you don't get a squirt of fuel.

Button it all back up, make sure that the fuel shutoff solenoid is hooked up right, then tow the vehicle ans use the tow start method.
