Thanks!
I'd like to add to this, what about a window that goes up at a moderate speed midway, then slows near the top? My front windows are like that...

The passenger rear doesn't work at all

I was just wondering about this. In the past 2 months I have bought three -- yes three -- W124s. The first was a wagon. All the windows work but the right rear. Then I got a good deal on a couple of sedans. I was especially thinking I might get a working right rear window. Well the one i have driven has the same problem. The third one I have yet to get a battery on to test. But i'll let you know.

Personally, i think the POs must have run WVO in them. The right rear window is closest to the fuel tank.

WVO now wrecks window regulators too? what next?

The R/R on my SD need the Sliding Jaw replaced, something about R/R windows.

The RR regulator on my '95 E300D also failed. Been going a couple years on a replacement ebay knockoff regulator with no problems. Motor and regulator unit were only $50 something or so complete.

Possible reason for the right rear windows commonly needing more repair would be children. As a child I remember fiddling with the window out of boredom. I'm sure that it got twice as much movement as the other windows. Up, down. Up, down. Up, down.

Just a hunch.

Too add to this, my right rear window is also stuck and the regulator is to blame. I need to get around to this soon as the weather is getting warm here.

Are all window reg's unique? Is a front left different than a front right? Are the rears the same as the front? etc. ...

Each door is a different regulator. even the window motors vary, 8 teeth 10 teeth and 14 tooth gear.

Look up your model in the buy parts tab at the top of the page.

the 124s and 210s have a much lighter cable regulator in the rear windows (1990 right rear 124 pictured):

unlike the 123s and 126s with the varied teeth models (1990 right rear 126 pictured):

Pwogaman>> I was replying to Bmor 62 question since he has a 83 SD listed under his user name.

you are right about other models having a different style regulator. Iam not familiar with the w124, Iam stuck in a w123 time warp.

so the w124 motor winds up that cable?

Ya I should have been more specific. Am looking at replacing at least 2 and have been talking with a guy who has some spare parts. So the 300SD reg's are unique to each door, and the motors as well it seems from browsing the catalog.

The right rear window regulator on my 92 300D also went out. Replaced it with a used one. New rear window regulators are EXPENSIVE.

When I bought my 91 124, the right rear window didn't work either. Now the real problem. In the mid to late 80's most manufacturers changed the window regulators to a cable and pulley system. Mercedes changed the rear windows only to this system in the 124 in 86 I believe. We have replaced this type regulator 100 to 1 of the old type. It was a cost cutting measure i guess, also less weight but a lot more problems.

I have located a motor and regulator off of a (W123) 82 300TD. Will this work on my W126 300SD? I hope so- the price is right (-:
