'78 280E/280SE seats

Not a diesel but still a W123 question.
I have a '78 280E. I was wondering if anyone knows will the front and rear seats from a '78 280SE interchange with my car? I don't know much about these cars -yet- but the 280SE is a 4 door car with a cloth interior completely covered front rear seats and arm rests with sheepskin. I was thinking being the same year it might work.
Appreciate any knowledge on this
Thanks

You have a 4 door and you want to know if seats from a 2 door will work? The front ones probably will, but the back is different in a coupe. I don't think it's as wide. Since coupe interiors are rarer, they're usually more expensive too. Someone will surely chime right in and correct me if I'm wrong.

One little letter makes a big difference

Front seats will fit. Don't know about the back. Kind of doubt it, but I've been surprised before.

If you have found vintage velour seats in excellent condition, you are very lucky. If I were you I'd buy some lottery tickets.

The car is actually listed as a CE in the ad I saw it in. I assumed it was correct but not knowing my alphabet yet.... I realized the mistake later. Now I know, a CE is always a 2D and a SE is always a 4D at least in the W123.

So velour is a good thing? If after I check them out a little closer and I pick them up I'll show what they look like if you want to see.

On a 30+ yr. old car it's unusual to see them still in good condition. Plus, in the US it's rare, because cloth was never available here. You only find it on gray market cars.

A 1978 280SE is a W116 car. The seats are not interchangable w/W123 cars.

If the doner is in fact a 1978 280CE (W123), then as previously posted: the fronts will interchange, but not the back.

Went out for a Saturday morning drive with my daughter in her car, she's worried about a "noise" We took a spin by to look at the seats and like a DA I forgot the measurements I took from my car.
Just for knowledge what is the difference in the 280E/280SE? Width, length, height, all of the above?

I appreciate the help with this

At least he gave me the cool first aid kit. My daughter found it. I wondered what that little storage box in the back of my 280 was for.

I was under the impression that the seat spring bases are the same part # on 116,123 and 126 series. You might have to transfer the seat rails and sliders from your old seats to the underneath of the 116 seats.

I don't have the measurements at hand, but while the two use the same engine (M110), the 280SE (W116) is a larger car.

Ok, thanks for all the input. I've got all my seats out anyway. Man, the stuff the years collect under those seats. I know the PO was a smoker but I found an unopened pack of Marlboro's under the back seat, along with many other little toys, crayons, cherrios, and a couple bucks in change.

How do you remove the front seats? I see the two bolts at the front but cannot see how the mount at the back of thefront seats comes apart
thanks

Forward.

Slide the seats as far to the front as they'll go. If you remove the rear bolts first, reinstallation will be easier as the rails will stay "in phase", if you will.

Jay.
