I recently resealed the vacuum pump in my 97 NA OM606 car and was surprised to find the pump did not look like any pump pictures I had seen in the parts catalogs. It did not have the centralized hinge that supports the piston device. Instead it was a rotary design and actually turned internal to the pump, sort of like a scroll compressor. Is this year a one off for vacuum pumps? Thanks.
