I think that is the rustiest CD I have seen, poor 'ol gal. I wonder how many holes the floor has!

If you'd ever been to Syracuse (where the CL post is from) you would not be shocked to see this. There is snow on the ground there for about 6 months of the year and it snows just about every day or two so there is always plenty of fresh salt and sand around.

That car is about ready for the parts yard though since the rust has undoubtedly gotten through the unibody.

I am a native of salt city. I remember growing up in the late 50's and early 60s everything that was more than 5 years old looked like that...grim.

TRY THIS.

Substitute mineral spirits if you don't like turpentine. I warmed mine in a big pot on a hot plate and sprayed with a $10 garden pump sprayer from Lowes.

A friend how grew up in MA and NJ as a kid, thought it was 'normal' to get a new car every 4-5 years, until he moved to NC.

Get your cars from the south or west if you don't want rust buckets..

He'd have to pay more than $1,000 to take that car, but its good negotiation starting point.

Just buff the rust holes away. No big deal. One car that was deceptivly advertised I still remember. I just kept watching for a pair of shiney eyes in the holes before I walked away. Advertised as a museam piece.
