Check out this Bad Boy

What engine is that?

Is it the 603 engine?

It would have to be, the description states that it has 147hp, which would indicate it is an '88 or newer. AFAIK they bumped it from 143 to 147 in 88. The mileage on this car is misleading:

from the Q&A:
Q: Is this original engine? How many miles, how much use on the diesel engine? Has it been rebuilt? To what degree?
A: No the std engine only had about 70 bhp and is terrible to drive on the interstate. This engine has twice the power and is from a much later car, it has not been rebuild, done 160000 km, full checked and serviced though

So that's about 100K on the engine and tranny while the chassis has been completely gone through according to them.

I really, really don't like the idea of their offer to handle all shipping and paperwork for $3000.

That just sounds like a headache if you were to do it yourself and I don't have the trust factor to put $3000 more in their hands to do it.

It's really a moot point anyway because I can't afford one.

But it would be nice...

Interesting toy, I'm not sure it's worth $30K but someone will buy it. I would rather have a good original with a 617 engine.

That's definitely a 606, not a 603. No 603 has an intake built like that; on the engine shown in the pictures the air intake goes way too far toward the "left" side (sitting in the passenger compartment) before branching "backwards" to the cylinders. That's a 606 trait; the 603 intake goes almost straight down after the 6-way split. It's got SOME backtrack but not nearly the vertical travel that one does.

Also it just looks wrong to be a 603.

Ok, I'm really confused. The intake doesn't look like the 603, but the valve cover does.

Wikipedia has the OM606 turbo at 175 HP: W210

Neat little Toy

603 or 606(OVERPOWERED)

'Whole dealeo kinda Hinky...

Unless some "Tulip Madness" great, great great grandson had the Guilders to have
someone custom make a G'Wagon without the underpowered OM617.

IF... the Chassis is an '83 ,you might be able to try and "Slink" it into CONUS.
(It's over 25 years old)

'My Luck, Some clown doing subcontract work for customs on the docks
recognizes the OM603/606 and alarm bells start going off!

25 or so "K" with it already "In Country" (And "Passed" by Homeland Security)
Otherwise ...Run Away ...Far, Far Away.

The engine is a N/A OM603. Injectors go into the top of the OM606 head. I'm not sure where they got the power rating though...
