Ignor sev, he's just busting chops. He's mostly harmless.

It sounds like what you really want is a euro (non-turbo) with a factory manual tranny. Just keep looking, they are out there but you're not going to find one everyday.

I have a us spec 240 which is converted with a 300d and stick. I don't find a huge difference in the performance between it and a turbo model. Its a nice driving car with a lot more performance than a 240d.

Yeah, I've noticed his usefulness before . . . but . . . every once in a while he needs to be told that he is wasting space here . . . when he is, I have seen a few of his post that were actually helpful!

There is a reason for the following:

Yeah, we know that it will be a search . . . but it also would be a search for a decent coupe also . . . fussy wifes! But . . . that is how she ended up with me!

Tom, Thanks! We just want a "regular car" If we wanted to pin ourselves to the back of the seat . . . and rack up points on our DL we could just keep the Turbo Volvo . . . and use that turbo! But we want something more reliable . . . and easier to maintain.

Ok. Here's the scoop on Euro 300D speedometers (at least the ones I've experienced)
Last year I bought an '84 Euro non-turbo 300TD, with factory 5-speed manual. It's my understanding that all factory-manual W123 300D/TDs are non-turbo, and all non-turbo 300D/TDs have a 3.46 rear-end ratio.
According to the illustration in my Euro TD owner's manual, my car should have a speedometer reading to 140 mph in large numerals, surrounding a set of small numerals reading to 240 km.
However, my car came with a 110 mph speedometer which I believe to be a replacement - compatible with '84 USA turbo 300D/TD with a 3.07 rear end, since both speed and odometer readings on mine are too high.
Last month I lucked out and found the correct speedometer in an '84 Euro non-tubo 300D at the Virgina Beach Pick-N-Pull - 140 mph in large numerals surrounding the 240 Km in small numerals - exactly like the one illustrated in my Euro owner's manual.

Also, while compared to a turbo version, my TD may not have quite so much grunt climbing long uphill grades, the 5-speed does alot to make up for my lack of turbo!

Happy Motoring, Mark

Thanks Mark!

I told my wife I figured the 300D NA would have a different rear dif than my 240, nice to know yours has a 3.46 compared to my 3.69 in my 240, which make sense as the 300 has a tad more grunt to take off with . . . and a five speed would be grand!
