Stuttering idle

On my 2.2 190, my idle, without A/C on, is usually about 700rpm. Now, it has started to sort of stumble, then idle up to 1000 rpm. It may stay at 1000 or it may bounce up and down between 700 and 1000. It drives normal, but the idle is weird. It doesn't do it all the time, just periodically. Any ideas?

do your regular maintenance items first, then look into the accessory belt and tensioning device. Lastly, look into compression, air in the fuel system and engine timing.

..as long as you're not burning garbage, that should clear it up.

if you think the behavior could be caused by the A/C compressor switching on, remove any electrical sensor harnesses to the A/C compressor and remove the Klima relay as a test.

you know what, on my 190e, this same thing happened right after i changed the fuel filter. course that's the cis-e system, so it's totally different
