What happened to Stella? Also where did you get the euros because you mentioned the circle ones with glass lenses? I need the driver side lens.

Nice car by the way.
It's the walls man - they're green!

Anyway, nice wagon. All straight and shiny like. Pictures of the interior and engine please!

Looks are deceiving.

What happened to Stella? Search on "Tragedy has struck" for photos.

It has some clear coat issues but not on the hood or the roof. It's mostly on the doors above the trim.

I've done some work on the rear hatch and will post before and after photos.

I'll get you engine and interior photos tomorrow. The interior was a mushroom/quartz that was a little too worn out for me. Plus it didn't have a 3rd row seat. I put the blue interior from Stella in there and it doesn't look too bad. A little shocking at first.

Here's what I've done so far:
Changed oil and filter,
adjusted valves,
Flushed brake system,
flushed power steering system & changed Filter,
lubed throttle linkage,
replaced air filter housing and filter,
changed fuel filters,
changed glow plugs,
Replaced "Mushroom" interior with Navy Blau,
replaced inside door handle and lock knob,
fixed the stereo,
Fixed vacuum lock system,
replaced brake booster,
Replaced regular hose with cigar hose,
Replaced back up lights,
replaced exhaust donuits,
lubed door lock mechanisms,
Replaced window switch in RR door,
Replaced rear hatch seal,
Eliminated the EGR (WOW!),
Replaced battery with MB battery.
replaced rear wiper motor
Replaced fuel door vacuum pod
CLK Wheels of course
Cruise is still intermittent

Still to do:
rehab the SLS & change filter
Change motor mounts
flush trans fluid & change filter
Change rear end fluid
Replace center carrier bearing
Replace flex disks
Replace the antennae & fix wiring so it goes up and down.
Replace rear speakers
New Tie Rods - front end components
Alignment

Anything I'm missing?

You forgot to mention driving (and looking at) your new wagon. Absolutely beautiful.

"A little shocking at first" is how it was described. I would say so.

Sweet new wagon, Dan. I really like that dark olive green. With that paint you HAVE to get yourself a nice palamino interior to put in there.

Green on tan looks absolutely stunning. I'd have to see some pictures but green on blue just sounds like it would clash to me...

Yick, didn't notice that. It'd be a deal breaker for me....I can't stand blue interiors.....I prefer Mushroom, Palomino, or Grey/Black. No red or blue. Even green or tobacco would be OK....its just something about blue....

Doesn't that depend on the color of the paint? My CD is silver-blue and I can't imagine any color that would look better than the dark blue interior with the silver-blue paint...

Shouldn't you be able to tell by comparing the VIN on the head or block with the one on the chassis?

I will say that my 617 with 363K sounds better than the one in Johnhef's wagon, and that one only has ~250K. I suspect that with most 617's that are still around, the level of care provided to the engine over it's life can (important qualifier!) matter more than the mileage. Well, once you ignore the freaks with <100K

Blue & green don't go together?

If you have Fir trees where you live, stand near one on a sunny, blue sky day and look up. That's what it looks like. Green tree, blue sky. Oh wait, you're from Kansas

Actually, it looks black from outside the car. If the mushroom interior was half as nice as the blue, I would have kept it in there. That colr doesn't turn pink. Nothing clashes like pink.

i vote for the quartz/cream interior or the parchment, the absolute best interior color IMO. either would look great with the green. palomino would too i guess. now you just need to find a 10/10 interior in some junk yard, no problem!

IMO, I think letting "Stella" live on as an interior is a superb idea. Also, speaking from a pacific northwestern perspective, green on blue seems comforting. Go with it.
