Help figure out Engine Number for part
Hi, I'm trying to price out a part and I see that there are 4 different choices for different Engine Numbers. The choices are
#1 - Engines:-10-086378 #2 - Engines:-12-027798 #3 - Engines:10-086379- #4 - Engines:12-027799- Or see this link My engine number is 616912-10-271866. How do I pick the correct part? I'm confused. |

Dont you know what kind of compressor you have on there? There are only three options, R4, Sanden, York.

#1 - Engines: up to serial number 10-086378 #2 - Engines: up to serial number 12-027798 #3 - Engines: from serial number 10-086379 #4 - Engines: from serial number 12-027799 Your number is after 10-086379, so is option #3. P.S. For the first two digits, 1 stands for left hand drive, 0 is for manual transmission, 2 is for automatic transmission. |

I need some help with this too.
I have a 73 220d (egine 615.912) and have been looking for my engine serial #. I found a plate on the driver side rear of the engine just below the head. I can't figure out how to decipher these #'s to get the right part of the 4 shown here Timing Chain Tensioner Engine Range: From 10-151756 Timing Chain Tensioner Engine Range: From 10-166609 Timing Chain Tensioner Engine Range: From 12-015280 Timing Chain Tensioner Engine Range: From 12-016806 http://catalog.peachparts.com/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=1973-Mercedes--Benz---0d-Engine--Mechanical&yearid=1973%40%401973&makeid=63%40%40MERCEDES+BENZ%40%40X&modelid=16050%3AMBC%7C10000030%3AED%7C10000136%40%40220D&catid=240154%40%40Engine+Mechanical&subcatid=240315@@Timing+Chain+Tensioner&mode=PA Here's a pic of the tag on the engine block

I don't know how to read the tag correctly, but I followed the links out for the tensioners and found that all have the same part numbers. So, at least for this part, it doesn't matter.
I to, am curious how this tag should read for when it does make a difference. Rick |
