If you are using a MB sending unit, then you can wire a relay to switch the stock fuel gauge between the 2 sending units.

Im using the Frybrid supplied Centroid sending unit with a VDO gauge. I don't know if it is compatible. What's the ohm range of the stock sending unit?

Here's a picture

It faces slightly downward, maybe 15* from the vertical, but you can see it easily and it looks pretty good. Come to think of it, it could be reasonably easy to bring it out a little, make the hole more oval and add a tab to the gauge and it could face upwards.
