Glow Plug Question

Yesterday I went to start the car and no glow light. I checked and the strip fuse was bad so no glow. The fuse was bent down in the center so I pried it up so the two sides pressed together and the glow system worked fine. I will check all glow plugs in the next day or two.
The question is can a bad glow plug cause the fuse to blow?

No, unless there was some odd grounding issue. A bad glow plug doesn't pull as many amps as a good one, so there is no was a bad glow plug could blow a fuse. If one of the wires to the glow plugs is worn and touched a ground point you could blow a fuse. It's probably the original fuse and just needs to be replaced.

In looking at the fuse I saw no indication of arcing or any other sign of heat and when I pressed the ends together it work with no problems. I hope you are right that it just needs to be replaced.

I throw in a new fuse and see what happens. They go bad just like the rest of them over time.

Mine was cracked and without closer inspection I overlooked the crack the fist time I looked.
The lower dimple area in the middle is supposed to be there to relieve the stress of expansion and contraction. A new after market fuse may be flat and you need to put the dimple in yourself.

That dimple in the middle was where I was able to pry up a little bit so the two halves were touching and then the system worked so I am hoping a new fuse is all I need.

I believe you are correct.

When mine cracked it cut off the Glow Plug power. I had a new Strip Fuse but it took me 2 weeks to find where I put it.
To to restore power I used a small Alligator Clip that I clipped to the Strip Fuse (had to leave the plastic Relay cover off). That still allowed the fuse to protect the cirucuit. I had pic of that but cannot find it.

After finding my extra fuse and installing it I bought 2 extra Strip Fuses. When I read your post I realize I am not sure what I did with them.

I keep an extra fuse taped to the glove box door.

So on Wednesday afternoon I called Phil at Fastlane and ordered 2 fuses and some air cleaner mounts that I needed. Phil wanted $1+ per fuse and the local dealership wanted almost $6 each so it was cheaper to have Phil send them than buying them locally even with the cost of shipping.
Thursday afternoon they were at my house when I got home (what, does he drive the order to you or something. How did I get it so fast) and I put in a new fuse and all is well. I guess diesel911 was right about it cracking over time.
