What's the skinny on the Spring Perch Failure? Was told by a Mercedes Fan that if the top of the front springs are rusty and fail that they may break and be shoved into the frame? Please advise.

Do a search for "spring perch" and you'll find all sorts of info on this issue...

The spot welded perch rusts and breaks off; spring is usually fine. Never heard of the "shoved into the frame" part. Isnt real common, but does happen. Salty roads/conditions probably contributes. Usually occurs at low speeds.

Most of us dont lose sleep over it.
