1st to 2nd Gear Shift-300SD

I know these cars shift sharply when shifting into 2nd gear from 1st gear but how would I make it shift less sharply or should I just let it be.

As the transmission warms up it shifts alittle more sharply than when it is cold. I like how it shifts when cold but at warmer temperatures I'd like it to shift smoother if possible.

Is this normal for it to shift differently with temperature?

I've done fluid change about 3,000 miles ago with filter also. I have plain Jane Dextron II or III in it.

I really forget but I put in story brand ATF at Advance Auto. Nothing fancy in there.

Thanks

Look for vacuum leaks.

How are the rest of the shifts? 2/3 and the 3/4?

Have you pulled vacuum (with a mighty vac) on any of the lines under the hood to check for leaks?

I'm not as familiar with the older vac systems. On the 85's there is a switchover valve to soften the shifts when cold.

The other shifts are good. I'll check for leaks.
