front crankseal spacer 1983 300td
i can't get the spacer off .. tried pliers, tapping, wishing. would some heat on it help or hurt?

I understand heat will help. If you have a helper, one of you heat it up, the other using a pair of channel locks should be able to work it off. That spacer will heat before the crank due to less mass and expand enough to remove.

I have a puller I used in my toolbox, happy to mail it if you cover shipping. You'll need about 1/8" behind the ring. You might try heat, or several hits with a punch or radially oriented cold chisel to expand the diameter a touch.

When I did mine I used a small cutoff wheel with my die grinder and cut it being very careful not to get into the crank. Then took a chisel and opened it up to relieve it and it came right off.
