Got some new 70's camaro shocks coming.

Tried the 70's model mustang air shocks with no luck.

Since air shocks will be at a fixed pressure until adjusted by adding or releasing air, wouldn't it be easier, to use something like a manual hydraulic pump hooked to the existing system and just pump the system up and down with that pump the same way you would air to the air shocks?

You'll need some "60s" with that 70's suspension.

Air shocks take a very small volume of high pressure air. A 12volt 150 psi tire-inflator type air compressor will provide more than enough air - and can be had for as little as $20.

You could even hook it up permanently with a momentary rocker switch for pumping them up as needed, and install an easily accessable bleed-off valve for when you want to let them back down.

Got every thing done.

I cannot say I like the ride.

Its way too bouncy for me.

The camaro air shock dont have enough dampening to suit me.

I am thinking about solutions.

I could add a second shock to the system.

Or find an air bag that will fit into the spring that also has a shock in it.

Or go back to the origional system. $$$$

Any ideas ???

Jay,
The normal length w116, w123, w126 shocks will not fit under my wagon.

And when I installed taller springs from a 380se it screwed up the alignment.

How do you get the w116 sd springs and bilsteins to work ???

A thought: the leveling jacks on my motorhome use a 12 volt hydraulic pump to pressurize the system. Why wouldn't a comparable pump from a junked motorhome suffice to replace the pump in the head? Anyone know if the pressure in these systems are comparable?
