M606 Belt Tensioner Problem

Hi everyone, The car is a 96 E300, Is there a torque for the belt tensioner lever bolt? If it is tight it doesn't work or I don't see it move when I rev the engine. Thanks in advance!

I have a 98, which I believe has the same tensioner system. Mine moves very little when the engine is revved. Seems to vibrate more than move.

If you are refering to the 17mm hex "pivot pin" that attaches the pivot arm to the timing case cover it is not supposed to move. It is a pin that is inserted through the pivot arm that the arm rotates around.

The spring is what provides tension, the shock is the damper.

M606 Belt Tensioner Problem

What I'm referring to is the lever or pivot which holds the spring and the small shocks. If the 17mm hex pin is tight the lever doesn't move at all, and I get serious vibrations. If it's just kinda tight, normal vibrations. But after driving the car for 10 miles, the pin loosens. One time it almost damage the fan blades. Any ideas, Thanks again!

M606 Oil Level Sensor Leak

HI! Every 5000 miles I change the O ring of the oil level sensor because it leaks. Is there something I can do to solve this problem? Maybe a thicker O ring or an improve kind. Thanks in advance!

As far as the tensioner, you might be missing something. That 17mm should be tight, and bottom out, still allowing the pivot to move freely. Get yourself a free account for the EPC (electronic parts catalog). Then you can look and see if all the parts are there. Or get an account with alldatadiy.com (fairly cheap per year)

Should be 100Nm or 75 ft lbs. Pay special attention to the SHIM part #13

Guessing you are missing the ~1/8" thick washer (part 13) that Ed referred to in the above post, or that the sacrifical metal sleeve inside the pivot arm has deterioated or is missing.
