w126 motor mount issue
I have pulled one engine from a parts car, and I have it sitting in the "new" car But I can not seem to get both of the motor mounts to line up. I get the bolt in one, from underneath, and then I am about 1/2 of a hole off on the other side. I can not get it to move that last little bit.
The bolt I have in is not tight yet, just in there most of the way. This is a 85 to a 83 transplant. Any ideas on what to try next? Thanks..

Loosen the bolt that is installed to a point just before it drops out. Then raise the engine slightly and try to install the second bolt. Unless the engine is raised at the absolute centre, which is next to impossible, one side will always settle differently from the other. If the bolt hole is off centre front to rear, the engine can pryed back or foreward just enough to line up the hole as well.

I was helping JIMMYJO a couple summers back replace his Motor Mounts on his old 79 300CD. (Haven`t seen him for a long while)
We got one side in ok, but the right side wouldn`t line up, about 1/2 a hole off or so. Tried prying it over, loosen the other mount. finally told him to take a run down the hill and back. I live on a windy mountain county road. when he got back, it was all lined up, and bolt went right in. Worked for us Charlie

Jackin'.
Use the jack to take most of the weight off the mount, then give the engine a good shove in the appropriate direction from above. A three foot prybar comes in handy, every once-in-a-while, too. These old beasts like it kind of rough....
Jay.
