Question Poor idle, #1 not firing during idel, 300SD

What is the best way to check the IP before installation?
I put a gauge on the delivery valve after priming, and spun it to 575 RPM..........no pressure showing.....probably too much air in the gauge line.

Hi
I'm no expert here, but if you have it running at idle, you should be able to crack the number one line at the injector to check if its getting fuel

Is this a Mercedes Fuel Injection Pump?
What did you spin the IP with and how did you supply it with Fuel?

I have seen Customers bring a Fuel Injection Pump into the shop where I used to work that they had drained as much Diesel out of they could and most often you could turn them quickly by hand and get some Fuel to spurt out.

On the humorous side I have many times seen bored customers who were waiting for something walk up to a use Fuel Injection Pump sitting on the counter waiting to be rebuilt and rotate it and get spurted in the face or their Shirt.

OK. There are 3 things I can think of that would keep an inline IP from spurting out fuel.
If something was keeping the Pump in the Shutoff position
If all of the Plungers were stuck in the up position (due to old dried sticky Fuel)
If something was blocking the feed holes in the body of the Barrel and not allowing Fuel to get inside (old dry stiky Fuel again).
