New addition! Who needs parts?

So, I've been toying with the idea of picking up another diesel MB to play with and came across this car on craigslist. The owner was asking a decent price and I emailed him that if he couldn't sell the car, I would be happy to pick it up for very cheap

Two weeks pass and I get a text message to pick up the car if i want I talked with the owner and was left feeling that the car was a good running diesel that had turned fugly(peeling paint) and needed a radiator(coolant leak). No biggie, i would buy the car and take parts off it and enjoy the learning experience.

Well, I definitely have a parts car after checking it out and taking it home. This is one 1985 300D turbo that has just about every problem that you could run into with these cars; bad clear coat-check! rust everywhere-check! big time vacuum leaks-check! transmission shifts like crap-check! oil leak-check! rear differential leak-check! coolant leak-check! no AC-check! BIG TIME shakes-check! blow by-check! bad shocks-check! steering play-check!.....and I drove it home

I'm going to dismantle it, so if you need parts..let me know, no reasonable offer refused...working antenna, fuel sender, dimmer switch and clock, black console in great shape!, light tan interior..etc, etc...don't let the pics fool you, car needs to finally sleep!

I hate to say it, but it doesn't look that bad in the pictures.

Don't believe the hype. The car has seen better days! I'm not very picky either

Lets see some pics proving it is so bad. Mechanical things can be fixed, paint can be redone....why part out a decent body?

Remember, every one parted out is another gone forever.

Which makes them rarer and more collectable which drives the price up when it comes time to sell. Gentlemen, Part them all out!! I couldn't resist

A car from DC that has "rust everywhere" probably isn't going to fit most people's definition of "a decent body".

DC is one of those locations where they get plenty of snow and salt the roads isn't it?
