I signed up for a 'test drive'

I'm really curious to see one and drive it.

It'll have to be along with a drive to the beach but I'm curious to see what they do as well. Since the big three have done an abrupt 'about face' on diesel just after last year's elections, I think we'll have to continue to stick with the imports if we want anything small.

If it turns out they last that long - remember they're Mahindra, not much of a track record here.

sounds interesting, but iffy. They've been making tractors and trucks for 50 years so there is some track record. I know of a couple of mahindra tractors in use around here on ranches and they aren't real impressive.
I found an aussie review of the pickup, the guy clearly wasn't interested in the diesel aspect though, he barely mentions it.

Ask Gurkha. He has an opinion on Mahindra.

Burgaw is a pretty rural area to be selling anything but Fords and Chevys.

Very interesting that they are going through a Chevy dealer to market the brand. I've been dying for Toyota to bring their 2.4 diesel tacoma (Hilux) to the states but it won't happen.

If the engine is peppy enough and the price were right I'd buy one of the Scorpio 4x4 SUVs. Looks to be about the same size as a Grand Cherokee (105" wheelbase). A diesel GC is going for around 40 large - give or take 5 grand (depending on how its equipped). If Mihandra has a competitive product for around half the dough I'd seriously consider a used one in about 2012 or 2013 when we're ready to get out of my wife's current GC gasser...

We have to lobby the EPA to relax pass car diesel emissions standards so we can become more energy independent, bottom line. Mahindra might not dig the $4k urea injection system some states might require.
