Sagging sunroof...
I did the search on this but no joy... The sunroof (metal) in my 300SDL opens/closes just fine, but when it's closed it's not exactly on the same even plane with the rest of the roof line - what is causing this and how difficult is it to raise it up? Also, the seal has been pushed out in each corner which produces a weird whislting noise at highway speeds - is replacing that seal a difficult job? I'm clueless here - I've heard that sunroof job is not fun - so looking for some advice on it before jumping in...
Also, the sunroof controller in the trunk reads: Raise/Lower (Heben/Senken) - would that have anything to do with the problem I describe - cound't possibly be that easy...

The sunroof has four or five push clips on the leading edge (closest to the mirror when closed). I would think if you could slide four fingers in between and the metal sunroof panel this could be the case. Run your fingers along the inside edge and see if they are undone or broken off. If you can just compress the liner to the frame and see if the clips hold. They are replaceable... I pretty sure. The dealer sold me some anyway. Also if pulled down from the inside the metal bar in the panel could get bent. That can be corrected... maybe even while installed. With the clips undone you would have to pull it pull the interior panel forward. You should be able to replace clips in that way.
I was just involved with a 124 job but have no idea how that microswitch in the trunk works. You can contact me if you wish and I'll help however I can. dave |

I thought the sunroof was supposed to be a bit lower in the front and a bit higher in the rear. Not much, just a mm or so. Something about wind noise, water intrusion, etc.
But if it's lower than the roof all around, that's not right. |
