some other interesting tidbits of info on this car.
It has a remote activated auto unlock setup. Currently its not working, and I hope to get into exactly how this works later this week, but if I can get it working, that would be really cool. One of the issues with the car is that the key does not turn the door locks. This is something I need to figure out before next week. Also, it has aftermarket seat warmers installed! These also are not currently working. Both these systems would be nice to diagnose and get functioning properly

Those seats are in really good shape, you can always buy palomino vinyl die and color them to match.....
I just seen those seat warmers on a site the other day, I was like hmmm I should order a set....

Well, one of the extras in the box will look very good to you. I didn't know what you had; thought you already had Palomino seats and needed good skins.

I definitely want to get them going, the fiance is a big fan of heat, and being able to toast herself would be high on the desirability list. Ive been having a look at the wiring looking for a fuse setup and to see how it was installed. This is what awaits comprehension with the remote door locks. Im going to try replacing the batteries in the key fobs first. They light up, but I don't really want to get into this situation immediately. hopefully its just a dead battery otherwise I need to figure out what in the heck is going on here

excellent! One thing I forgot about is the head rests. I may need to convince you to sell those to me as well (if you still have them)

A friend recently bought a used vehicle with aftermarket power-locks, anti-theft and remote-starting. Then paid a substantial sum to have it all professionally removed after it caused so many electrical malfunctions that it was virtually undriveable! Hope your project goes better. Happy Motoring, Mark

Hmmm I had a car with a stereo insulation that looked just like that....I swear they couldn't find wire cutters.....so they just rest nested all the miles of speakers wires under the kick panel....

so how do I open the rear hatch if I can't get the door key to turn, and if the plunger moves up and down, and does not appear to unlock it.
Weird as the hatch opened fine all the time and suddenly does not open, but wasnt locked. Is there a trick for popping it open from the inside? (im also missing that interior handle to add to the fun of this problem)

The power for the seat heaters was tied into the ciggie lighter circuit. I think it's one of the red taps to the left of the ashtray. I'm sorry for the wiring clusterf*uck! That was all the guy who I got it from. Trace the big red wire in a loom running from the 3 pole tap by the battery. That's the constant 12v for the auto locks. I think there are a few fuse links under the dash which might be blown from jumping the starter..

Awesome! Thanks for the info
I did finally manage to get the hatch open, I ended up doing kinda what you had to do, basically fiddling with the linkage through the handle hole until I got the door plunger to pop back up. Was amusing as I had the future father in law by to check out the car, and I closed it right before he came, and couldn't reopen it the whole time he was there, to his enjoyment

Awesome! I'm glad you got it. I'm pretty sure I had something big and awkward back there the first time it happened to me. I also could not physically move the plunger from inside the car. It felt like something else was going to break.
