OT-Rats on the FSM from Merc. Classic Ctr.

Been waiting a week for the 123 FSM to arrive, finally gets here and the darned thing's not Mac compatible. Now I gotta spend hours digging thru a million pdf's with no index....first non Mac compatible issue I've run into in years. I can, but prefer NOT to do Win-doze.

Be advised if you're buying one.

VM-Ware Fusion is an excellent virtual desktop app for Mac. There is a home-made indexing app built by a forum member out there somewhere for the FSM's, but I think its windows only.

This is why the paper copies are much better.

Here is the index I put online. http://people.oregonstate.edu/~lindgrea/DIY/123manuals/main.html
I have a mac and can't use the CD index either so I uploaded the index so I could riffle through the index and figure out which PDF I needed.

The last near complete paper manual set that sold on eBay that I can remember was $360 something (there is a thread).

I have a feeling that owning a MAC is somewhat like owning a Mercedes. I has both have their unique qualities that can create unique problems in use.

And both get the job done, when working properly, so much easier, faster, and smarter, and with less stress to boot, that a little down time once in a while still seems worth it

Yeah, the epc from MB is not mac compatible either. My cd-roms used to open here on the pc, but just crash it now. A word of warning. MB really needs some worthwhile IT people.

Rumor is that after the whole rodbender 3.5L incident, MB moved the guys responsible to the IT department.

you can download a set of indexes that are a good work around for this. I prefer them, actually.

Have you tried Steve Nervig's indices? Steve's a Mac guy so I'm sure his work is Mac compatible.

126 file structure is

Program directory contains all htm, avi, swf files
(Drop the leading... All other directories are as typed & probably case sensitive.)

So we have:

Program/
..Chassis
..Climate
..Engine/
....103
....602_603
....617
..ETM
..images
..Maintenance\
......My81
..OM

Subdirectories are all pdf files. I have the Program & associated files in multiple places (Hard drives, thumb drives, CDs) & on XP and Ubuntu machines. matrix.htm is the browser file with the menu.

I had access to a set of FSMs for all of the MB chassis. I only needed the 123 and 126 (should have copied them all, dammit!) but they work fine on my mac mini and 10.4 and 10.5. PM me and maybe we can work something out or figure out what's going on with your system.

I dont know if it will work for yall running macs, but on my linux machine i just made a shortcut to the "matrix6.htm" document, and that is the very first opening screen that will navigate just like the with the cd in, i first had to copy the entire cd of course.
